Recruitment & Retention

Best Practice and Innovative Strategy are not new concepts to healthcare. Healthcare organizations worldwide are engaged in best practice activities on a daily basis, which are resulting in dramatic improvements in the area of recruitment and retention of nurses.

What constitutes a best practice and/or innovative strategy has been the focus of numerous discussions in the literature. In the context of this initiative, best practice and/or innovative strategy is defined as strategies, activities, or approaches which have been shown to be effective.

TCN Database of Best Practices & Innovative Strategies

The Tennessee Center for Nursing is in the process of identifying best practice and innovative strategy initiatives for recruitment and retention of nurses. The intent is to have a web-based resource designed to facilitate the dissemination of best practice information across the state.

All individuals or organizations are encouraged to submit initiatives for entry into the database. The best practice and/or innovative strategy may be submitted by an individual, group or organization. We encourage contributions of all recruitment and retention best practice and innovative strategies whether they are simple or complex, proposed or already implemented. In order to be included in the database, a best practice and/or innovative strategy initiative submission must meet the following criteria:

  • the initiative has resulted in improvements in recruitment and or retention
  • the initiative has the potential to result in improvement in recruitment and or retention
  • the initiative has had significant involvement and leadership of nurses from inception to development and implementation

To submit a best practice and/or innovative strategy initiative please complete the:
Best Practice/Innovative Strategy Submission Form. For additional information contact us at: info@centerfornursing.org, or call (615) 242-8205.
